Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation (LPBF) was established in response to environmental concerns voiced throughout the Basin. As the public’s independent voice, LPBF is dedicated to restoring and preserving the water quality, coast, and habitats of the entire Pontchartrain Basin.  Through coordination of restoration activities, education, advocacy, monitoring of the regulatory process, applied scientific research, and citizen action, LPBF works in partnership with all segments of the community to reclaim the Basin for this and future generations.

The Lake Pontchartrain Basin is a 10,000 square mile watershed encompassing 16 Louisiana parishes.

Second Saturday Work and Learn at Bayou St. John: Every second Saturday from 9am to noon, LPBF will host a volunteer work opportunity at the new urban marsh on Bayou St. John at Lake Pontchartrain. Work includes trash pickup, with seasonal planting, maintenance & monitoring. Also included will be an educational talk or hands-on project about local natural and cultural history. "Let's Make Waves" North Shore Patron Party: Please join LPBF as we celebrate Friday, November 7th from 7-10pm on the North Shore at the Pontchartrain Yacht Club.
Attire is dressy casual and entertainment will be provided by Overboard. Tickets: $65 advance sale and $70 at the door. Call 504-836-2205 for tickets or info. Silent auction included.

SAVE THE DATE: LPPBF's second annual "Lights at the Lake" Christmas event to be held Saturday, December 13th from 5pm-8pm. Come enjoy the Christmas Boat Parade, musical entertainment and refreshments. Visit with Santa, take a discounted tour of the lighthouse museum and enjoy the festivitie.s

Visit LPBF's Gift Shop at the New Canal Lighthouse and then take a guided tour of the museum. Consider a personalized brick to be installed in the lighthouse Fountain Plaza.
