Derelict Crab Trap Donation

Support the Derelict Crab Trap Program by donating today!

Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation will be partnering with Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to pick up Derelict Crab Traps in Pontchartrain Basin in 2018.  Derelict crab traps are a navigational hazard that continue to “Ghost Fish,” trapping animals needlessly and reducing the annual blue crab harvest as they degrade in our coastal waters.  For information on how Derelict Crab Trap Removal is a smart way to reduce the negative environmental and ecological impacts of “ghost fishing,” see our project page and report, Assessment and Lessons Learned from Derelict Crab Trap Rodeos in the Pontchartrain Basin in 2016 and 2017 and Recommendations for 2018 and 2019.

LPBF is actively soliciting financial, networking, social media, and in-kind support for this project.
