Museum Program Educator-AmeriCorps

In collaboration with the Visitor Services Manager, the Museum Program Educator, plans and runs museum interactive programming including the Underwater Robotics Program, the Seed Station and Seed Library, and the Lakeview Learning Lab. Once familiarized with the programs, the corps member will evaluate and work to improve exhibit flow. They will assist in recruiting and training program specific volunteers. They will work with the museum team to develop new STEM programming for a variety of ages, experience and group sizes as well as help create an evaluation process to measure the program's effectiveness. Outreach Coordinator-AmeriCorps

The Outreach Coordinator will work under supervision of the Community Engagement Coordinator with the primary objective of engaging residents in the sixteen-parish region of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin on issues aligned with Pontchartrain Conservancy's (PC) mission. The coordinator will play an integral role in adding capacity so that PC may increase the number of residents and communities we engage. This will occur through a variety of avenues (in-person tabling, STEM activities, presentations, clean-ups, social media, relationship building, etc.) and a diversity of audiences (K-12, young adult, adult, rural, urban, etc.) To apply, go to www.servelouisiana.org.

Tree Nursery Volunteer Coordinator-AmeriCorps

The member would be a program coordinator for our swamp tree nursery and volunteer coordinator for our coastal restoration volunteer opportunities. This would involve all aspects of the upkeep of the tree nursery, which currently houses ~5000 trees. This position is primarily focused on two aspects. First, operations of the existing nursery to ensure that the trees survive to planting season. Then helping coordinate the tree plantings in the fall/winter season.
